In 2001, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Museum opened at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Inductees are memorialized on Legacy Pillars, each honoring a different class, along the south side of the stadium, at the tree-lined, pedestrian Sports Legends Mall.

The Class of 1997 includes high-jump champion Adam Berry, 3-sport high school star, high school coach and broadcaster Irv Brown, Colorado University track star and one-time world high jump record holder Gil Cruter, Denver Nuggets head coach Doug Moe, Denver native and New York Mets catcher John Stearns, banking executive and champion of Denver sports Larry Varnell.
