Tribal Energy Resources From Deep Shale Formations and Hydro-Fracking

Facts and Fiction

In the past 18 months, domestic oil and gas production has doubled from 20% to 40%. This dynamic comes as a result of improvements in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technology. It is estimated that domestic energy production in North America will exceed Middle Eastern energy imports within the next five years.

Many Indian Reservations have produced oil and gas for decades. However, this production has generally come from shallow vertical wells. A new season of energy exploration and production has begun in Indian Country buoyed by the recent development of shale gas exploitation with multi-stage horizontal well fracture stimulation.

Indian Country has been a careful steward of its environment and natural resources. This seminar will educate attendees on the new energy boom, creative partnerships, the basics of deep shale drilling technology, facts and fiction about hydraulic fracking, and ways to balance good environmental stewardship with positive economic benefits from modern energy production.

This one-day seminar is presented by Roger Fragua, Bob Knoll, and Alan Simon. The morning session runs from 9:00 am – 11:30 am with a new energy boom overview by Roger Fragua and Alan Simon. This overview will focus on Indian Country exploration, production and transportation opportunities, challenges and ideas. Lunch will be provided. The afternoon session by Bob Knoll runs from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a basic horizontal well drilling/hydraulic fracturing "lay-man's" crash course, supplemented with a fact and fiction session. A Q&A session will follow during the last hour of the seminar.
